You're welcome Sam. This page is not usually viewed by our investors, but they can see your info on the "local resources" page if you did that.

I was wondering if you knew of a way to get a free website that would give me a regular address? Like www.name.com instead of www.name.bloggspot.com.

Thanks
08/08/08 @ 19:04
Comment from: James Orr [Member] Email
To get a "regular address", you are referring to purchasing a domain name. Domain names, can be purchased from Google directly and used with Blogger.com. I think Google charges about $10 per year to buy one. It is an option in your Blogger.com account.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the message Brian. I just checked the videos (which are hosted by YouTube) and they seem to be working great for me. You're the only person that has said they are having a problem of the hundred or so that inquire each day.

Perhaps try again in a little bit or try a different computer.

I am not a computer savvy person, but found this to be very easy. I do have one question about the link. I did as instructed, but it wasn't verified if I actually linked to your site or not. How can I find out or do you notify when a business has been linked to you?

Glad that you found it easy to do. Tammy does verify links before placing your link on our website.

Thanks for the message Ron.

I have 2 questions.

No problem.

First, Do you have to be bonded or licensed?

That will depend on the investor you are doing work for. Some will require it. Some may not. It is not up to us, but it will be up to them.

As of right now i am not but may be starting my own business soon.

OK.

Second question: Can i put your link on myspace website or facebook?

Yes. While we prefer it to be on your business website (and even show you how to make your own site above), you can put it on your myspace or facebook page as long as it is publicly visible when Tammy or I go to check it. We need to be able to see it without being logged into anything.

Thanks.

Was wondering if you had a logo I could use to link back to you on my site. Not a fan of text-links as they are not very visible.

I do decks, millwork, and all general building/handyman type of work. However my particular business is specializing in decks. I will be awaiting an email with your reply.

Thanks for the comment Frank.

We do not have separate logos for each website; just the text links that we provide on the linking page above.

I can understand why you might want an image, but text links can also help to improve your ranking in search engines.

I recieved an e-mail from you asking me to let you know when I was contacted by one of your investors requesting my services,I have not had any yet, maybe the handyman service needs more attention, or a different marketing style, just a suggestion,I look forward to doing bus. with your clients, thank you,Brett Barton

James replies:

Thanks for the message Brett. Since we *just* launched the handyman resource sections on the websites, it will take some time.

Also, please remember this is a FREE service so that amount of money I have budgeted to promote this particular aspect of the business is small. In fact, the entire budgeted amount for promoting the handyman resource section goes to promote the individual pages that we have our workers promote as I describe above. The rest of our marketing budget promotes the websites as a whole to attract investors and not specifically the handyman section.

Sincerely,

James

James,

I received an email from you asking me to let you know when we have been contacted by one of your investors. While I have not been contacted from your website directly, I did receive a call from an investor responding to the ad you placed for me on craigslist. We are very excited to hear from more people. Hope to hear from you soon.

James replies:

Glad that is working for you as well. Like I mention above, we do also promote the page that you create on your website directly if you've set up a page with both our contact info on it.

That is just another benefit we occasionally offer to people working with us and our investors free of charge. See above FAQ videos for details.

Sincerely,

James

hello, the videos were not clear on my computer, i just want to know how to get started, i service the [removed by James as irrelevant on this page] county areas, i am a licensed [removed by James as irrelevant on this page], also i can do [removed by James as irrelevant on this page]
thanks mike [removed by James as irrelevant on this page]

James replies:

The comment I get most about the videos is that they give TOO much detail, so I suspect you are referring to the videos not working on your computer. If that is the case, you may need to, at your convenience, go to your local library to watch them if you want to participate.

While I do process these usually within 1 business day (with the rare exception where I am on vacation or the e-mail from you goes to my spam folder and I never see it), there is no rush to get this done on our end. As I explain the video, this is NOT a profit center for us since we do not charge you nor do we charge the investors for putting you two together. So, whenever you get around to it is when you will have the chance to have our investors contact you with jobs they have.

So, if your computer can do not show the videos (which more than 85% of our visitors can watch the videos) the next time you happen to be near your local library maybe go on in and watch them. Or, try a family member, neighbor or friends computer for watching them. They're YouTube videos (which is owned by Google) so there is nothing technically special about them.

Sincerely,

James

Hi James I read the comments what i would like to know is how do I let the investers know what I can do for them? and how I can save them time and money. You see I do this for a living and I am good at it.I know how to stay below buget and allways on time.I do what I have to do to get it done.I am a take charge kind of person.I have done many rehabs around the u.s. [removed by James as irrelevant on this page] are just a few of the states I have worked in. So if you could let me know how I get my profile out to your invester I would appreciate it. Thank you for your time

James: I think the concept is great, but I need to be more finacialy stable to do this correctly. Thank you for the opptnty & when I can afford to I'll be back,

Brent Uhl

James replies:

Since our service is 100% free, I am not sure why you'd need to be more financially stable to do it, but let me know when you're ready. Since I don't charge anything for it, there really is no rush on our end to get it done.

Just let me know when you want to get your name in front of our investors.

Hi James,
How do investors looking at my area specifically (Redding, Ca), find you and your website to find me? In other words, how popular is your site among the investor crowd and if I go to the time and effort, what are the odds of hearing from someone looking for handywork in this specific area.

Thank you in advance. Clayton P.

James replies:

The Redding, CA site was created in mid to late June, 2008. We started with 50 sites and they have become very popular. During June we expanded from 50 to 280 (so 230 of the sites are very new).

Hello James,

The question I have for you and your assistant Tammy is: Roughly how many investors are you involved with. This opportunity seems viable, and the cost is astonishing. Color me interested.

James replies:

Yes, free is certainly affordable.

We currently see close to 50,000 visitors each week to the sites and thousands of registered investor clients on our deal notification and wholesaler lists. We usually average more than 200 new investors registering each day on the site and that is growing as well.

James

Hello,
I think of a handyman as someone who does small repairs etc. Do you have a separate resource listing for builders who are equiped to do more significant projects?

James replies:

We do break out vastly different jobs, but for something like that you'd probably want to just list that as the type of work you can do on this page.

This is a free program for working with our investors only because I do not call people to set it up. I can keep it free because it is self-serve... I already made that videos to explain what you need to do above and you can send over the info that we need, as explained above, to do it and my assistant can copy and paste for our investors.

If you can't watch the videos on your personal computer because you are on dial-up, or your don't have sound, or it won't work for any other reason, please try a friend, neighbor, family member or the public library for accessing it if you are interested.

I understand that you will be referring people in Fort Collins to your "local resource" area on that paticular website. How can I be sure agents in my area will be doing the same?

James replies:

I can be sure of what any other person will do, but when investors ask me I will send them there and we get tens of thousands of visitors every week to the sites, so there are people looking even if they never talk to me or another agent.

Thank you for the info. I'm from Pensacola and have been working for a local general contractor for several years gaining all types of building/remodeling experience. With the economy as it is I am focusing on more repair/remodeling if you can throw any work my way no job too big or too small.

James replies:

Sounds great. Please do watch the videos and I'd love to get you listed on the Pensacola site for the investors.

Hey, don't have a website really don't know where to start? I would like in the mean time to be able to do repairs for real estate investors. I do electrical, painting, privacy fencing, roofing, etc. email me and let me know if I can be of assistance. thank you Michael

James replies:

You really do need a website to participate in our program. Of course you can work for real estate investors that you find, but to be listed on our site you do need a website.

Fortunately enough I do explain how to get a website for free in the FAQ videos above.

Thanks!

James, I excited to see your site, it is just the type of business I was looking for. There are some delays I will be experiencing due to the small staff I have. My wife and myself make up the management team and I have a helper for the field work. She will start up a web page soon I asked her to try to have it up and running with in 6 months. I thank you again for your quick responces and look foward to working with you soon.

You can get a free website from http://smallbusiness.officelive.com/?xid=c2logo
This site is hosted by microsoft and I believe it is free for the 1st year. It includes a real .com address and a free website builder program that is very user friendly.
Thought this would help. It's where my own website is through.

Just a little something about licensing for those who are inquiring. The first thing to do is check with your local building dept. or contact your states Contractors Board Be specific. Home repair or home remodel? There is a big difference in this. Also, some counties require a business license for working in their county, regardless of the type of work done. (A city business license is different than a contractors license). Every state has its own regulations so that is about as far as I can go. Hope I helped.

Hello, I have a question for you...some of your investors are asking for a Handyman on their projects. What happens when they need a contractor because the job is over 500.00. which is what a handyman is allowed, on the job( this is both parts and labor). If this amount goes over than they have broke the law, because then they have to be a contractor. So how are you preventing this from happening, to both protect your investors, and the people doing the job. People may not be aware that there is a limit, and by you promoting them then you have put yourself along side with them...so what protection is being taken. Don't want you to be taken advantage of or your company to be part of that as well.

James replies:

I do not get directly between the investors and providers in any way... financially or otherwise. That is up to them to work out directly and it is up to both of them to make sure they obey all the appropriate laws.

Sincerely,

James

James,
Quick question, I have looked through the videos, but is there a document where all these FAQ's are listed so that everytime I need reminded of an answer I don't have to look at the video?

James replies:

Unfortunately since we do not charge handyman services or investors for this, this is not an area that gets a lot of attention and so the info is only available in the videos.

Sincerely,

James

For some reason my computer won't let me pull up the videos.

James replies:

If you are unable to view the videos on your computer, please try a computer from a friend, neighbor, family member, business associate or the public library. The only format this info is in is the videos above via YouTube.

YouTube is a widely accepted standard for viewing videos on-line giving us the widest common denominator.

Of course, if you are unable to view them with the suggestions above, this may not be a good fit for you.

Sincerely,

James
